Before coming to our practice for your first consultation, download and complete the patient registration form and email it to hello@bayurology.co.za. Some medical aids require pre-authorisation for specialist appointments and normally your referring GP will assist with obtaining a authorisation number, but it is your responsibility to ensure it is all in order to avoid unnecessary costs.

We are currently contracted as designated service providers for most medical schemes. We will confirm if your medical aid covers the cost of the consultation prior to your appointment and if not, you will need to settle the account. Our practice will provide you with an invoice and you are welcome to enquire it from your medical aid.

A consultation for a new patient in the rooms is currently R1500 and includes further tests or procedures in the rooms, as required.

Professional fees for surgical procedures will be discussed with you prior to any procedure. We can submit your bill to your Medical Aid/Insurance as a courtesy. This does not mean that you are not responsible for the entire account. Your Medical Aid may not cover the full fee (most people are under-insured) and this may result in a co-payment, in addition to what the medical aid reimburses. Please do not hesitate to ask questions if you require additional information.

Our practice will provide the necessary information you need to get pre-authorisation from your medical aid (ICD10 and procedure codes) and assist you with obtaining it as far as possible.

Please arrive with all your information and forms of identification as per their website, www.lifehealthcare.co.za/hospitals/eastern-cape/port-elizabeth/life-mercantile-hospital/, to the hospital reception at your scheduled time. They will arrange for your admission and scheduled surgery.

We do not routinely consult via telephone or email. Under extra-ordinary circumstances, you are welcome to arrange a telephone consultation by contacting the rooms in advance. You will be charged for this and may be requested to pay this fee in advance.

Emails are used for administrative purposes. We do not give medical advice via email. Patient care in hospital and in our rooms will take priority over email correspondence. We will try to respond within 48 hours, but this is not always possible. Should you not receive a response, please follow up telephonically. Please allow longer for reports, prescriptions, and blood test request forms.

For urgent medical queries, e-mails are not appropriate communication. Please telephone our rooms, see your GP or visit the nearest emergency room.

We provide a 24/7 Urology service to Mercantile Life Hospital Emergency department and the number to dial is (041) 4040400 for assistance after hours.

Please do not use email, messaging, or social media to communicate medical matters with us. We would like to talk to you, and would like to have a record of your call.

Our office hours are from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

You do not need a referral letter to see one of our doctors. If you have seen other doctors, it is useful to bring as much documentation (e.g. test results) with you to the consultation.
